FUNK FOR TREES is a fundraiser party for Ramshackle Pictures’ new documentary about the coastal forestry movement called “Heartwood: Forest Guardians of Cortes Island” (directed and produced by Daniel J. Pierce). Kicking off the evening, we will be showing the trailer for the film, as well as a few short clips that will explore the ancient forests of Cortes Island that are owned by industrial logging giant Island Timberlands. All funds will be going towards our Indiegogo campaign.

Watch the trailer and check out our Indiegogo page:

We’ll be tracing the history of funk all night long, from classic funk and soul, to hip hop, to the most party-rockin ghetto funk anthems, to the funkiest sounds of futuristic house + disco. We’ll also be projecting some stunning visuals of the threatened forests of Cortes Island, and other imagery inspired by the ancient network of mushroom mycelium that permeates the forest floor. FUNK FOR TREES will take you on a funkafied journey into the depths of the old-growth forest!
